KEY WEST, Fla. – Several FEMA travel trailers were delivered Wednesday to the Naval Air Station Key West and are to be given to residents who have been approved by the organization for assistance due to Hurricane Irma.
So far, FEMA has approved 84 trailers for Monroe County residents whose homes were too damaged after the storm to live in.

Monroe County Assistant County Administrator Christine Hurley said the trailers are "good news" for the area at the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners at their monthly meeting, which was held Wednesday night.
Hurley has been leading the recovery operation for Monroe County Emergency Management following after Irma and said the goal is for FEMA to place the trailers on pads in the near future.
The trailers become livable as soon as they are hooked up to an electric and water/sewer system.
These trailers could be put on approved private property sites or at six larger sites for multiple trailers that have been approved by the Army Corps of Engineers and have been sent to FEMA for that agency’s approval.
