Internet crazy over good-looking Gainesville officers

Yes, a calendar is in the works

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gainesville is home to some ridiculously good-looking first responders – and they’re totally self-aware of this fact.

Ever since Hurricane Irma hit the Gainesville Police Department has been posting seemingly innocent photos on Facebook of officers tending to the needs of the city.

But comments on these photos – well those aren’t so innocent.

"Irma brings all the boys to the yard," one person wrote.

"I'm convinced this police department is fake and this is actually an ad for "Magic Mike 3," someone wrote.

"Sooooo, (SIC) looks like I’m moving to Gainesville to begin my life of crime," said another commenter.

One person requested to see an entire lineup of the department for "research purposes."

And those are just the more tame comments that we can share.

The department has read some of the comments and even responded to some, even the more racy ones with gifs, and an update that one of their officers has been placed in "Cougar Prey Protective Care, similar to the witness protection program, for his own safety."

They also announced the names of officers who are married (bummer), named officers who are single (yay) and told people not to call 9-1-1 and request an officer --  judging by the photos you really can't go wrong no matter who shows up.

All the fun is for a good cause.

The department is planning on putting out a calendar and the funds raised will go to Irma relief.

In the meanwhile, the department continues to share photos their officers and the Sarasota Police Department even got in on the fun, announcing on Facebook that Gainesville officers have nothing on them.

And the internet is all about this friendly competition.
