Tropical Storm Ian forms in Atlantic Ocean

Storm not expected to threaten land

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. ā€“ Tropical Storm Ian formed Monday morning in the Atlantic Ocean, but it is not expected to threaten land.

Ian was located 1,140 miles southeast of Bermuda as of 11 a.m. Monday. It was moving northwest at 13 mph, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph.

"It's a long way away from the U.S.," Local 10 News meteorologist Trent Aric said.

Aric said the storm is forecast to strengthen to 60 mph, but it won't pose a threat to the U.S. or anywhere else.
