Margate residents say city is not helping with severe flooding issue

Residents say area has been flooded for 3 days

MARGATE, Fla. – Friday marks day three of severe flooding for residents near the Carolina Club Golf Course, some of whom told Local 10 News that the city of Margate has done nothing to help them.

The homeowners association rented large pumps and miles of hose to try and alleviate the problem, but they said it will cost them $20,000 to $30,000 for the around-the-clock pumping.

"We have seven pumps out here, and we pumped 1.9 million gallons since last night," property manager Chris Tuller said.

Residents in the Pinebrook Pointe complex are also trapped because the water is too deep to drive through.

Some said they have a foot of water inside their garages, and when they went to ask management for help, they were told it is the city's problem.

Meanwhile, city workers and pumps are nowhere to be found and residents affected by the flooding are furious.

"My car was like actually under water. It actually flooded and I am waiting on the tow company to come and get it," Johnny Scoblionko said. "It is very, very frustrating. I have missed work all week because I haven't been able to go anywhere. I actually ran out of food and I have been getting Uber Eats."
