The Children's Trust Family Expo

The Children's Trust Family Expo is a one-stop shop where Miami-Dade parents can learn about the many resources available to them.  It features nearly 250 exhibitors sharing information on after-school and enrichment programs, pre-K registration, programs for children with special needs, KidCare outreach, nutrition education, injury prevention and other vital community services, against a colorful backdrop of face-painting, karate-kicking and storybook-reading.

Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts

Time: Begins at 10 a.m.

Created in partnership with the local arts community and DWNTWN Art Days, ARTSLAUNCH2016 is a FREE annual celebration to kick off South Florida's arts season and celebrate the Center's official box office opening.  It includes workshops, kids' activities, tours and much more. On that day, the public will also have the first opportunity to purchase tickets to more than 50 shows for the Arsht Center's 11th season.

Cost:  Free

*Complimentary parking will be available in Lot C (1201 NE 2nd Ave.) throughout the day.

9/11 Prayer & Remembrance Service

St. Johns will remember the losses and sacrifices that took place on Sept. 11, 2001.  Words of hope and encouragement will be offered.  All are welcome to attend.

3rd Annual Inclusion Through Entertainment

Disability Programs & Training is hosting this event to help remove the stigma placed on people with disabilities and showcase what they can accomplish through different forms of entertainment.  All proceeds benefit Disability Programs & Training.

21st Annual Extra Mile Walkathon

Lace up your shoes and walk two miles in support of abused and neglected children throughout South Florida. Join Christian Homes for Children for the Extra Mile Walkathon. Walkers will receive a free t-shirt and refreshments. Donations are welcome, and all proceeds will be used to positively impact the lives of local foster children.

4th Annual Peaceful Ridge Rescue Gala

Community & Family Literacy Night

You can join Lake Forest Elementary School as they celebrate love for literacy.  There will be guest readers, including Kate the Storyteller, and free family portraits provided by Michael Todd, founding photographer of In Touch Magazine.

St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer

Tamiami Park

Time:  Registration at 6:30 a.m., walk at 7:30 a.m.  

Exercise your heart walking for a good cause.  Since the hospital opened in 1962, treatments invented at St. Jude have helped increase the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to 80 percent. Help St. Jude patients and kids all over the world. All runners will receive a finisher medal.

Cost:  Walk: $10 (age 6 and up)

                5K Run: $20 (age 6 and up)

                Free (age 5 & under)

Drugs: Cost & Consequences Exhibit

Museum of Discovery & Science

Time:  Museum Hours:  10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Mon. – Fri.), Noon to 6 p.m. (Sunday)

Presented by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), this 4,000-square-foot nationally traveling exhibit offers a local, global and historical view of the many costs and consequences of drugs on society. It's designed to open the eyes to the science behind drug addiction and the damaging impact of illegal drugs. It provides youth and adults a unique learning opportunity and a chance to be part of the solutions in their communities.
