MIAMI – You may not want to live on the edge, but you can certainly choose to go over the edge for a good cause. Become one of 100 willing adventurers to scale a 10-story building to help put an end to youth violence.

In partnership with the Keyes Company and Over the Edge Global, Greater Miami Youth for Christ is hosting its inaugural "Miami Over the Edge" event, taking place Saturday, Feb. 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Keyes Company headquarters in Miami.

The event will help raise crucial funds to support the faith-based, nonprofit's multiple prevention programs, including afterschool care and mentoring to youth offenders reentering the community.

"Miami YFC is passionate about helping every one of the 254,000 11- to 19-year-olds in Miami, but we are especially mindful of the vulnerable, under-resourced, high-risk youth in our city," local YFC Executive Director Bonnie Rodriguez said. "The number of violent crimes among youth with a firearm has increased in Miami-Dade County, and the recidivism rate among these offenders is disproportionately high."

Over The Edge Global will be providing staff members, training and all of the equipment necessary to ensure a fun and safe event. Each participant is asked to raise $1,000. Along with the rappelling event itself, there will be other fun activities on the ground, such as live music and food trucks.
