MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – It all began with an idea to honor teachers for all their hard work and dedication. The idea was followed with a phone call to a McDonald's restaurants representative who was more than happy to take part.
For Teacher Appreciation Week, New Jerusalem Ministry teamed up with the McDonald's at Southwest 40th Street and Southwest 113th Avenue to provide breakfast Monday for 60 teachers at Cypress K-8 Center in southwest Miami-Dade County.

"We are so happy to be able to partner for (Monday) morning's breakfast and have the chance to show our thanks and gratitude to the Cypress K-8 Center educators who teach and care for our community's children day in and day out," local McDonald's operator Peter Menendez Jr. said.
Church members picked up specially prepared breakfast sandwiches, yogurt parfaits and hot coffee. The group set up a display at the school for the teachers to walk in and enjoy.
"We are honored to be partners with New Jerusalem Ministry," Principal Ed Alonso said. "Their kind act of providing breakfast to our faculty in appreciation for what our teachers do every day is greatly appreciated."
Teacher Appreciation Week runs May 1-5.
Local 10 will also team up with McDonald's restaurants to surprise another group of deserving teachers with a hot lunch at the end of the week.
To all South Florida teachers who educate, care for and go the extra mile for students every day, thank you!
