Mindy’s Supermarket/Cafeteria not ordered shut

Below is a list of places that were recently inspected by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Rodent issues were discovered inside Sam’s Kitchen in Lauderhill.

Several violations were found in Mindy’s Supermarket/Cafeteria in Hialeah, including meat given to the owner “from the streets” and cat feces under the counter, but Mindy’s was not ordered shut.

In fact, no places were ordered shut last week in Miami-Dade County.

All the places ordered shut were allowed to re-open following an ordered cleanup and re-inspection.

“Floor soiled/has accumulation of debris. Observed buildup of grease and debris though out area.”

“Dead roaches on premises. Observed 3 dead roaches on floor in kitchen area.”

“Wall soiled with accumulated grease, food debris, and/or dust. Throughout property.”

“Raw animal food stored in same container as ready-to-eat food. Observed one cooked shrimp among raw shrimp in container at prep cooler.”

“Time/temperature control for safety food cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Observed bean sprouts at 70F at cook line. As per operator, bean sprouts have been out 3 hours. Operator will use Time as a Public Health Control for the product, in the future. Observed raw salmon and krab at 49F. As per operator items were placed in cooler 2 hours prior. Operator moved items to another working cooler.”

“Ready-to-eat, time/temperature control for safety food prepared onsite and held more than 24 hours not properly date marked. Observed 4 containers of prepared on site sauces not date marked in walk-in cooler. As per operator, sauces were prepared two days ago.”

“Spray bottle containing toxic substance not labeled. Observed spray bottle with no label at front area. Operator wrote name of product on spray bottle.”

“Rodent activity present as evidenced by rodent droppings found. 1) 10 rodent droppings behind containers of corn meal in dry storage area away from kitchen. 2) 8 rodent droppings on container in dry storage area away from the kitchen. 3) 3 rodent droppings on shelf next to clean containers in dry storage area away from kitchen. 4) 2 rodent droppings front of stove in kitchen. 5) 3 rodent droppings under small chest freezer in kitchen. 6) 5 rodent droppings in dining room away from kitchen. 7) 4 rodent droppings under cooler front counter away from kitchen. Manager cleaned and sanitized area during inspection.”

“Bowl or other container with no handle used to dispense food. Bowl without handle stored in container of corn meal in dry storage area.”

“Raw animal food stored over or with ready-to-eat food in a freezer - not all products commercially packaged. Bag of raw chicken stored above bag of beef in small black freezer in dry storage area.”

“Time/temperature control for safety food, other than whole meat roast, hot held at less than 135 degrees Fahrenheit. Oven Cooked rice (100F-115F-Hot Holding) Per manager food item in unit less than 2 hours.”

“Hand wash sink not accessible for employee use at all times. To go bags and container of forks stored in hand washing sink front counter.”

“Operating with an expired Division of Hotels and Restaurants license. Repeat Violation.”

“Non-service animals in the food establishment or on premises. Observed 2 cats inside the dining room. Operator removed. Cats keep coming in and out of the establishment, due to door being kept open.”
