Additionally, now through September 30, residents can take advantage of special pricing and adopt two cats at the single adoption fee of $50. Adoptable cats and kittens are available at both Animal Care and Adoption Centers in Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach, as well as the numerous participating Pet Supermarket stores throughout Broward County.

"The reduced fees are to encourage the community to adopt, rather than shop" said Lisa Mendheim, the shelter's public education coordinator "The two cats for one price comes at the peak of kitten season when our shelters are filled to capacity with cats and kittens received as strays. We hope more people discover the benefits of adopting shelter pets and realize they can save money as they save lives. Broward County Animal Care and Adoption receives approximately 20,000 dogs and cats each year, most of which start out as abandoned or homeless strays in need of a second chance. Our goal is to make it as economical as possible to place as many pets as we can into good, loving and permanent homes."

To take advantage of the reduced adoption fees and help save more lives, residents should visit either of the Broward County Animal Care and Adoption Centers in Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach.

The Fort Lauderdale Adoption Center, located at 1870 S.W. 39 St., is open Tuesday through Friday, from 1 to 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Pompano Beach Adoption Center, 3100 N.W. 19 Terrace, is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. Also, Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
