Parents seek answers after son's death

Christian McKenzie found dead after he disappeared in November

DORAL, Fla. – The parents of a teen who was found dead after he disappeared in November are asking for the public's help to find out who killed their son.

"It's the first Christmas without him," said Christian McKenzie's mom as she broke down in tears during a Friday morning news conference. "I never thought something like this would ever happen to me."

The family made an emotional please, asking for help to find the person who killed their 21-year-old son, a son his mother describes as a kind, caring and loving child.

"It's devastating, as a mom ... it's unbearable," said Adena McKenzie.

Police say McKenzie was found dead in a very remote area on Southwest 408th Street and 232nd Avenue.

"The location of this particular area is a very desolate area," said Detective Richard Raphael. "Unless you go there on a routine basis, no one is going to go back there."

McKenzie was reported missing on November 14th after he didn't show up for work. His body was found the next morning.

Detectives say they have no suspects or witnesses.

"That's the reason why we're here," Raphael said during Friday's news conference. "This is a very unique case. There are absolutely no witnesses that we know of thus far."

After weeks with no answers, the family is asking for help to find some kind of peace.

"It would give us some kind of closure," said Christian's father, Arthur McKenzie. "Knowing who did it, and justice is there for him, that would mean a lot."

The McKenzie's said they think the person who killed their son may have been someone he knew. Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade police.

"It can happen to anybody, so I hope somebody can come forward and help the police," said Adena McKenzie.
