Florida couple calls 911 after 'crazy' cat attack

Orlando-area animal control removes pet from house

DeLAND, Fla. – The couple whose "crazy" cat trapped them inside their Volusia County home described the attack to Local 6 on Wednesday.

Teresa Gregory and her husband called 911 over the weekend from her DeLand home, asking for police to remove the animal, a 4-year-old cat named Kush.

Teresa said she still has the bruises, bites and scars from the attack.

"She's biting me, biting me and clawing me all at the same time and like, hissing," Teresa said. "So he grabbed her."

Her husband, James, has even more bites and bruises and said he still can't believe what happened.

"The cat bit, and it clawed, and I could get the cat a little ways away, and it would run right back and just jump me and claw, and scratch me and bite," James said.

The couple said they have owned the Russian blue cat for four years and never had a problem.

At first, the couple says they locked the cat in the bathroom for nearly an hour until it calmed down. But when they opened the door, Kush attacked again, causing the couple to lock themselves in their bedroom for more than an hour and contacted Animal Control to come and remove her.

Kush has been quarantined for 10 days and then the couple must make a decision about what should happen to the cat.

"She's a good cat, but I'm scared to bring her home," Teresa said. "I can't have that happen again."

The Gregorys say they don't want to have her put down.
