Trader Joe's to open Davie location

Grocery store chain announces plans for expansion to Tower Shops

DAVIE, Fla. – Trader Joe's announced early Monday its plans to open a new location in Davie in late 2015 or early 2016.

The grocery store chain has signed a lease for a location at The Tower Shops on South University Drive at 23rd Street. The space will be about 9,300 square feet.

Trader Joe's began in California, but has since spread across the country, becoming popular with fans of its low prices and large selection. It opened its first South Florida store in 2013, in Pinecrest, followed by locations in Delray Beach, Pembroke Pines and Boca Raton.

A Fort Lauderdale location is also in the works, but no formal opening day has been announced.
