3 arrested after teen's body found in wooded area

DORAL, Fla. – Three men have been arrested in connection with the death of a 17-year-old boy whose body was found in a wooded area near his home in southwest Miami-Dade County last month.

Kaheem Arbelo, 20, Christian Colon, 19, and Jonathan Lucas, 19, were arrested by the Miami-Dade Police Department. Their charges have not been released as the arrest warrant remains sealed at this time.

The victim, Jose Santos Amaya Guardado, 17, was reported missing by his family June 28.

Police said the teen's family searched for him in nearby areas.

On July 1, Guardado's brother discovered what appeared to be a partially buried body in a wooded area and called 911.

Police confirmed that a human body was found. The body was taken to the medical examiner's office for further investigation.

The medical examiner determined the cause of death to be trauma and ruled the death a homicide.

Police said more arrests are expected to be made in the case.
