Driver of SUV not injured

SURFSIDE, Fla. – A Surfside police officer was injured in a crash Monday afternoon outside town hall, a Surfside police representative said.

Sky 10 was above the scene at 9293 Harding Ave. about 5 p.m., showing the police cruiser with damage to the driver's side and a white SUV with front-end damage.

Authorities said the officer was heading eastbound on 93rd Street when he was hit by a GMC Denali.

That stretch of 93rd Street was temporarily shut down while detectives investigated the cause of the crash.

Police said the officer was taken to a hospital as a precaution with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the SUV was not injured.

Police have not said who was at fault.
