POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A man was arrested over the weekend after he snatched more than $100 from a cashier at a Publix in Pompano Beach, Broward sheriff's deputies said.
The robbery was reported about 6:45 p.m. Saturday at a Publix at 2511 E. Atlantic Blvd.

According to an arrest report, William Allen, 24, approached the customer service counter and when the cashier opened the register, he reached over the counter and took $185.
Deputies said the cashier attempted to grab Allen's hands, but Allen broke free and ran out of the store.
According to the report, Allen tried to get into a car that was parked in front of the store but the driver sped off.
Deputies said Allen caught up with the car down the street, but the vehicle was stopped by authorities a few blocks away.
Deputies said Allen confessed to robbing the Publix cashier and said that the people inside the car had nothing to do with the robbery.
Allen was arrested on a robbery charge and taken to the Broward County Main Jail.
