HIALEAH, Fla. – Two toddlers were taken to a hospital after a house caught fire Saturday afternoon in Hialeah.

The fire started about 5 p.m. at 236 E. 56th St. in a rear bedroom where two toddlers were sleeping, Hialeah Fire Department Capt. Cesar Espinosa said.

One of the toddlers, ages 2 and 4, suffered second-degree burns to her arm, Espinosa said. Both toddlers and a woman were taken to a hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Sixteen residents were displaced because of the fire. The American Red Cross was called to assist the residents.
