MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. ā A gun was found Tuesday morning at Miami Norland Senior High School, prompting a lockdown on campus, a school district spokesman told Local 10 News.
Miami-Dade County Public Schools spokesman John Schuster said the school was placed on lockdown after police received a tip about a gun on campus.
Schuster said police searched the school and found a gun in a car in a school parking lot.
Sky 10 was above the scene as several police cars were parked outside the Miami Gardens school. A view from Sky 10 showed one student being placed into the back of a police car.
Some parents rushed to the school once they received texts from their children.
"He said, 'Mom, it's Code Red. And I was so afraid because I didn't know what was going on," Paula Rolle said.
Four students were questioned by police and arrested. They each face charges of possession of a firearm by a minor and possession of a weapon on school property.
Students told Local 10 News reporter Glenna Milberg that this latest incident at their school doesn't make them feel safe.
"This is the second time this happened and I'm just really feeling unsafe. I don't really feel secure at this school," Tavares Rivers said.
"It's not a good environment for people who want to come and learn. They want to bring guns to school," Imani Jackson said.
The lockdown was lifted shortly before noon.
Four students were also arrested at the school in November after a loaded gun was found on campus.
The suspects arrested in the latest incident appeared in juvenile court on Wednesday, where they were ordered to be released on home detention.
