Miami Lakes man accused of stabbing, trying to run over boss who fired him

Incident outside Hialeah cafeteria captured on surveillance video

HIALEAH, Fla. – A Miami Lakes man is accused of stabbing his boss with a knife and trying to run over him after he was fired from his job, police said.

Irelio Reyes Osorio, 52, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of attempted first-degree murder.

According to a Hialeah police report, Osorio was angry at his former supervisor for firing him and was demanding to be paid for the two days he worked before he was fired. Police said Osorio sent the man numerous text messages, threatening to use a gun, machete or knife on him if he didn't get paid.

Police said the man agreed to meet with Osorio at a cafeteria on West 20th Avenue in Hialeah. When both men arrived, Osorio lunged at the man with a knife and began to chase him through the parking lot, cutting him on the chest and left arm, the report said.

The victim threw a rock at Osorio, knocking the knife out of his hand, the report said. Both men got back into their vehicles, but Osorio continued to attack his former employer, the report said.

Surveillance video obtained Friday by Local 10 News shows Osorio's pickup truck slamming into the man's work van. Osorio then drives away, dragging a chain-link fence behind his truck.

The victim is seen getting out of his van a short time later and appears to be walking in the direction of the truck when it accelerates, nearly running over him. The man had to jump out of the way to avoid being struck.

The man was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Police said Osorio admitted to stabbing his former boss and intentionally trying to run over him.

Osorio was being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
