HIALEAH GARDENS, Fla. – Six teenagers were taken into custody Tuesday morning after a police pursuit.

The suspects, between the ages of 13 and 17, are accused of robbing a man who was walking on a sidewalk in the area of West Ninth Avenue and 29th Street in Hialeah about 1 a.m.

Local 10 News does not identify children under the age of 16 who have not been charged as adults. The teens arrested who are 16 and older include Jeremiah Brunson, 16, Jaida McMillan, 16, and Rahkem James, 17.

"These are dangerous people who committed armed robbery," Hialeah police Sgt. Carl Zogby said.

According to an arrest report, the victim spotted a black van driving slowly passed him and watched it until it was out of his sight.

Police said James and a 15-year-old boy approached the victim shortly after, pointing guns at him and demanding the man's property.

The victim told detectives that he stayed still because he was in fear for his life and the younger teen forcefully grabbed his backpack from his left shoulder.

Police said the teens ran to the van, where the other suspects were waiting for them.

"We don't think this is the first time they've done this," Zogby said.

Police said officers spotted the van shortly thereafter, pursuing the van until it crashed into a Hialeah police car at Northwest 80th Court and Northwest 103rd Street in Hialeah Gardens.

The officer suffered minor injuries. The van and police cruiser were later towed away.

All six suspects, three boys and three girls, were arrested and face several charges.
