Precautionary boil water notice issued for portion of Hialeah

HIALAEH, Fla. – A precautionary boil water notice was issued Monday for a portion of Hialeah.

City officials said in a news release that bacteriological analyses of samples taken from the city's water distribution system in some areas showed possible contamination.

Officials said the contamination could be because of recent system repairs that were made after Hurricane Irma.

The boil water notice affects those in the below areas:

Area 1

  • North: West 84th Street
  • South: West 21st Street
  • East: East 10th Avenue
  • West: West Sixth Avenue

Area 2

  • North: West 21st Street
  • South: Okeechobee Road
  • East: East 10th Avenue
  • West: West 10th Avenue

Those in the affected areas are asked to boil water for one minute before using it to drink, cook, make ice, wash dishes or brush teeth. People may also choose to use bottled water.

The precautionary boil water notice will remain in effect until bacteriological samples show that the water is safe to consume.

Residents with questions may contact the city of Hialeah Department of Public Works at 305-556-3800.
