MIAMI-DADE COUNTY – A 2-year-old girl was seriously injured Saturday in Southwest Miami-Dade County when a car backed up and ran over the child, Miami Fire Rescue said.
Miami Fire Rescue Lt. Felipe Lay said the incident happened about 2:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of Northeast Ninth Drive near Homestead.

The girl - whose legs were crushed - was transported by helicopter to a local trauma center, Lay said.
