Court: Man must reimburse his mother for raising him
Mother to receive upwards of $750,000
A Taiwanese court has ordered a dentist to pay his mother back around $750,000 for raising him and putting him through school, according to The Guardian.
The plaintiff argued her sons must honor an agreement signed more than 20 years ago, in which they vowed to pay their mother back 60 percent of the net profits from their incomes. The older son eventually paid his mother $169,000 to settle the case, so her younger son was the target of the lawsuit.
The supreme court ruled the contract was valid because the younger son was an adult when it was signed, and he was capable of paying her. The mother appealed the case all the way to the supreme court after lower courts ruled in her son's favor.
