Thieves take off with $65,000 worth of energy drinks, FBI says

FBI agents investigate energy drink robbery in Tampa

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – FBI agents are searching for a trailer loaded with $65,000 worth of energy drinks that vanished overnight about a week ago in Tampa.

According to Eric W. Sporre, a special agent in charge of the FBI's Tampa division, a driver parked the tractor trailer on Feb. 2 at East Broadway Avenue and 50th Street, and by the early morning of Feb. 3 it had disappeared.

Broward Sheriff's Office deputies responded Feb. 7 to the area in Broward County where the stolen truck turned up. The trailer, which has Florida tag 2277CS, and the energy drinks were not there, but agents suspect the merchandise is likely in South Florida.

FBI agents are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call FBI Tampa field office at 813-253-1000. There is a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest.
