Car erupts in flames after driving into Coral Springs strip mall

Driver says brakes stopped working

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – A car burst into flames after the driver slammed into a Coral Springs strip mall Thursday.

Alexendra Hazey said she lost the brakes on her Hyundai Sonata and couldn't stop before hitting the curb. She was able to jump out of the car before it caught fire, but she was uninjured.

Video from the scene shows fire coming from the front of the small sedan as it sat in front of the Pizza Carousel restaurant inside the Pine Ridge Square Mall at Wiles Road and University Drive.

Alexandra Hazey looks on as her car is about to be towed away after it caught fire when she drove into a Coral Springs mall.

The car was towed away.

Police were seen guiding shoppers away from the fire and mall.

Local 10 News viewer Robert Reggio Jr. recorded the video.
