Accused Broward County groper confesses to incident on YouTube, police say

Ricardo Ruiz, 26, says he grabbed, punched woman's buttocks at Vista View Park

DAVIE, Fla. – A man accused of groping three women in Broward County confessed to one of the incidents in a video that he recorded and posted on YouTube, authorities said.

Davie police Sgt. Mark Leone said the Broward Sheriff's Office and Hollywood police helped authorities locate Ricardo Ruiz, 26, of Hollywood, on Tuesday, who faces a charges of indecent exposure/lewd and lascivious behavior.

The video shows Ruiz confessing to an incident March 15 at Vista View Park, 4001 SW 142nd Ave., in Davie.

"Today was a good day man, I gotta tell you," Ruiz said in the video. "So I just left the park. It was like a mountain park called Vista View and I seen this one Spanish girl -- yoga pants, yoga bra, whatever the (expletive), tight, Spanish, skin glistening in this (expletive) sun."

Ruiz said he saw the girl and her friend jogging along the trails and ran up behind them.

"I'm like, 'Oh (expletive), and she looks just as good," Ruiz said. "Both of them (had a) fat ass, fat booty, fat culo and then I just ran up -- the last girl I was running behind her. She looked good man and I just like grabbed her ass. I just grabbed her ass and then she turned around and I was like, 'Why you stop?'"

"She took her headphones off and she like smiled at me. She didn't say nothing, she just kept smiling at me and giggling and I just grabbed her," Ruiz said. "I grabbed her again and put my hand on her butt again, and I was just (expletive) running with her and then she like pushed me away, but she didn't do it like fightingly -- she was just, you know, being a girl."

Ruiz said the woman ran off to meet her friend but then stopped, because she was tired and bent over. He said he then ran back up to her and punched her in the buttocks.

"I ran up to her again and I punched her butt. I didn't do it hard, like fightingly, but I just punched her butt and then that was it," Ruiz said.

According to detectives, the woman screamed and Ruiz ran away.

"(Expletive) man, I told you it was a good ass (expletive) day touching ass," Ruiz said in the video. "If you don't touch ass you're crazy -- that's all I gotta say."

"He is a very pompous individual," Davie Police Capt. Dale Engle said. "I mean, he's not hesitant to hide what he's done. He's proud of the fact that he's violated these women."

A similar incident was reported earlier in the day about 11:55 a.m. at Brian Piccolo Park, 9501 Sheridan St. in Cooper City.

Broward sheriff's deputies said Ruiz exposed himself to a woman at the park before driving away.

According to an incident report, Ruiz approached the woman as she was getting into her car. Deputies said he grabbed the woman's right thigh and then pulled his pants down.

The woman quickly got into her car and drove to the park office.

A third groping incident was reported in the city of Hollywood.

Local 10 News visited Ruiz's home on Thursday, and although several cars, including his gray Nissan with paint peeling on the hood, were parked in the driveway, he didn't come to the door.
