Hialeah man accused of burglarizing multiple homes on same day

Bryan Canut, 20, accused of stealing tools from backyards

HIALEAH, Fla. – A Hialeah man was arrested Monday after he burglarized multiple homes in the area on the same day, authorities said.

The four burglaries were reported between the hours of 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Friday.

According to an arrest report, Bryan Canut, 20, jumped the fence at a home in the 800 block of West 79th Place and stole a $300 lawn mower from a tool shed.

Hialeah police said he also forced open the rear locked gate at another home on the same block.

Police said Canut stole about $2,000 worth of tools from a shed in the backyard.

Some of the victim's property was found in an alley behind his home, authorities said.

A third rear wooden fence was forced open on the block, causing about $400 in damage, the arrest report said.

Police said Canut stole a 12-pack of Corona beer valued at $17.

Authorities said Canut stole about $1,000 worth of tools at the final home on the block that he targeted.

A detective identified Canut in home surveillance video based on previous encounters.

Several homeowners also identified Canut in a photo lineup as the person who stole items from their backyards.

Canut was arrested Monday on charges of burglary, grand theft and criminal mischief.

He also faces charges on two warrants out for his arrest for possession of marijuana and committing a second offense of driving with a suspended license.
