According to a police report, Grullon and his girlfriend had decided to break up the night before. When Grullon showed up the next morning, they got into an argument about a pack of cigarettes.

The woman told police that Grullon was frantically searching their home for cigarettes, pulling drawers out of the cabinets and throwing them on the floor. She said she ushered him out of the home so as not to wake up her two children from another relationship.

Grullon left and later returned, holding an oil canister, the woman told police. Grullon then doused her with gasoline, pulled out a lighter and ignited her, the woman told police, causing second-degree burns to her upper torso.

The woman screamed, took off her shirt while still on fire and ran into the shower to extinguish the flames, police said. She then took her two children to a friend's house and had another friend drive her to a hospital.

A social worker notified police after learning what happened.

Police said Grullon fled in a black 2007 Ford pickup truck. Anyone with information is asked to call police or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
