Woman describes Radio Shack robbery

3 armed men steal new iPhones from Pompano Beach store

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A woman inside a Radio Shack in Pompano Beach described what happened when three armed men entered the store.

"He was like all covered up in black and he had a gun," said 17-year-old Dulce Jimenez. "And then he just started screaming, 'All of you to the back.'"

The Broward Sheriff's Office released surveillance video of the robbery on Thursday. It happened at 167 South Pompano Parkway on Dec. 30.

At the time of the robbery, six customers and two employees were inside the store, BSO said. Surveillance video showed the men force the eight people into a back room, where they stole phones, most of which were iPhones.

"They just robbed the iPhone 5s. They didn't touch anything else," said Jimenez.

The suspects were wearing ski masks to hide their faces. BSO said the men knew the phones were stored in the back and demanded an employee give them access to the area.

"The items being targeted are new to the market, they are high-end dollar items, and at this point in time, it seems to be more momentarily beneficial to them just for those items," said BSO Det. Vincent Coldwell. "We are still working on identifying where exactly the phones are going, if they're all going to the same place."

Since August, nearly 12 similar crimes have been reported across Broward County. The same store was targeted in August by three men who stole about $20,000 worth of cell phone equipment. Investigators have not indicated whether the robberies are connected.
