2 Florida men behind bars for driving 199 mph

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Two men found themselves behind bars after Orange County Sheriff’s deputies said they were driving at speeds of 199 miles per hour.

According to an arrest report, Luis Alejandro Lozano-Figueroa, 20, was clocked doing 199 mph in a 70-mph zone while driving a red Chevrolet Camaro on the Florida Turnpike on Sunday.

Deputies said Mario Alberto Paz-Gil, 19, was sitting in the passenger seat. Two other juveniles in the car were released to their parents.

Deputies made 157 arrests, issued 1,290 citations and seized 54 vehicles in 2023.

“We have zero tolerance for street racing here in Orange County,” the sheriff’s office said in a post on social media.

Lozano-Figueroa and Paz-Gil were transported to the Osceola County Jail.

Lozano-Figueroa was held on a $5,000 bond.
