Florida reported an increase of 3,306 cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, the state’s highest daily rise in cases since Sept. 19.
The state also confirmed 164 additional residents’ deaths, surpassing 15,000 since the start of the pandemic. On Wednesday, Florida had passed 15,000 fatalities when including non-residents who died here.
Florida is now up to 726,013 confirmed cases, 15,068 resident deaths and 186 non-resident deaths from COVID-19 that occurred here, according to the health department’s dashboard.
At least 45,483 hospitalizations have been attributed to the novel coronavirus since the start of the outbreak.
The statewide positivity rate from yesterday’s testing was 4.57%, according to the health department. The 14-day average positivity is 4.37% and the 7-day is 4.29%.
The increased death toll includes 19 from Miami-Dade County, three from Broward and eight from Palm Beach County.
Monroe County had its largest jump for new cases since mid-August with 19 added in Thursday’s report.
Miami-Dade officials have announced the first confirmed case for a public school student since schools reopened this week.
Florida’s health department has also released a second batch of data on COVID-19 infections at Florida schools statewide.

The United States has passed 7.5 million confirmed cases, with over 212,000 deaths from COVID-19, the highest numbers in the world. Over 2.9 million Americans have been deemed recovered, according to data compiled from various sources by Johns Hopkins University.
Worldwide, the number of COVID-19 cases reported has surpassed 36.2 million. There have been more than 1 million deaths worldwide attributed to the pandemic, with over 25.2 million being declared recovered.
