New Broward COVID-19 vaccine distribution center to help deal with appointment backlog

Coral Springs to open new COVID-19 vaccine site at Coral Square Mall

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – The Florida Department of Health has 40,000 people on a waiting list for the COVID-19 vaccine, so access to new appointments will be limited until the state is able to deal with the backlog.

To help speed up the process, a new COVID-19 vaccine distribution center is scheduled to open on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Coral Square Mall, 9469 W. Atlantic Blvd., in Coral Springs.

It’s not a drive-thru operation. Government-issued photo identification is required to verify the recipient of the vaccine is age 65 or older. None of the sites in Florida require proof of residence.

As of Sunday in Broward County, 39,717 people had received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 6,480 had completed the series, according to FDOH.

For more information about access to the COVID-19 vaccine, call the Florida Division of Emergency Management at 1-866-779-6121.
