Florida’s health department confirmed 6,014 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, along with 132 more state resident deaths as a result of the virus.
The state has now verified 1,924,114 COVID-19 cases since the outbreak began and 31,267 resident deaths, according to health department data.
Another 562 non-residents have died in Florida from COVID-19.
Deaths verified in the past day include 22 in Miami-Dade County, 14 in Broward County and four in Palm Beach County.
There have been 80,024 resident hospitalizations attributed to the virus in the state.

At least 3,174,162 people have been vaccinated in Florida, with 1,773,638 people in the state getting both shots that are needed. Miami-Dade has had 352,217 people vaccinated, Broward has had 273,112 and Monroe 12,172, according to the latest numbers posted by the state.
According to the CDC, over 600 cases of COVID-19 variants have been verified in Florida, most of any state. That includes at least 599 cases of the U.K. variant, five of the Brazilian variant and one case of the variant initially identified in South Africa.
The statewide positivity rate for yesterday’s testing was 6.82%.

The United States has confirmed over 28.7 million cases and has had more than 517,000 deaths from COVID-19, the highest totals in the world.
