MIAMI – Armed with a shotgun, a Miami man demanded cash and pizza from a Domino’s delivery guy and his customer, police say.

It turns out the tie-dye Crocs he left at the scene might have helped do him in.

Miami police say Sterling Mateo, 22, held up a pizza delivery in the 100 block of Southwest 6th Street back in July and told the two victims that his shotgun was not a toy.

The pizza customer didn’t have any money in his wallet, according to an arrest report, so Mateo took his phone, before saying: “I’m taking the pizza, too.”

While Mateo tried to take the pizza out of the thermal box on the deliveryman’s bicycle, the shotgun went off and hit an unoccupied Honda Civic, investigators say.

The Domino’s employee managed to get the gun and lie on top of it, at which point police say Mateo gouged his eyes.

Mateo eventually ran from the scene and drove away, leaving behind a pair of tie-dye Crocs, cops say.

Mateo was arrested Wednesday, with detectives saying that during the investigation they found a photo of him wearing those Crocs and Instagram messages where he admitted robbing a Domino’s employee. They also found his car with a box of shotgun ammunition inside.

Mateo faces a number of charges including armed robbery and aggravated assault with a firearm.
