South Floridians continue showing support for people of Ukraine as Russian onslaught continues

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Russian forces advanced closer to Kyiv on Sunday, shelling another city less than a mile from the Ukrainian capital.

The Kremlin ignored a promised ceasefire, escalating their actions with no regard to civilian life.

The U.S. State Department issued a dire warning for American citizens to leave Russia immediately.

This all comes as another round of peace talks are on the table for Monday.

The toll of the war is affecting everyone.

An 18-month-old was tragically hit by shrapnel in Ukraine. His mother’s boyfriend rushing the child to the hospital but sadly he didn’t make it.

Near the Ukrainian capital city, an image showed hundreds of civilians waiting under a destroyed bridge, attempting to time their escape to safety.

The sights and sounds of the onslaught have forced major tech companies to isolate Russia. SpaceX, Apple and Netflix are among the few names showing support for Ukraine in their own way.

Closer to home, Ukrainian Americans have been holding demonstrations, like an anti-war rally at Bayfront Park on Saturday.

Sunday had a similar sight as the Assembly of the Cuban Resistance held an event showing solidarity with Ukraine.

“We support Ukraine’s fight for freedom, and we feel that their struggle to remain free to rule themselves in their own land is important to everybody’s individual freedom wherever they are,” said organizer Dr. Orlando Gutierrez Boronat.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the Biden Administration is committed to supporting investigations into Russia’s actions.

“We’ve seen very credible reports of deliberate attacks on civilians which would constitute a war crime,” he said. “We’ve seen very credible reports about the use of certain weapons.”
