Neighbor accidentally crashes into home across the street, deeming it ‘unsafe’

A neighbor accidentally crashes into South Florida home, now the home has been deemed unsafe

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – A home in Coral Springs has been deemed “unsafe” after a neighbor accidentally crashed into it on Monday.

According to Michelle Rodriguez, her neighbor from across the street was getting out of his driveway when he accidentally plowed into her home. The SUV was still inside the home late Monday.

“I woke up this morning to a loud crash,” said Rodriguez.

Rodriguez woke up and found the SUV in her living room, which is now in shambles, debris scattered everywhere.

“I’m like are you ok? He was obviously very shaken up, he was upset, and I was trying to let him know I’m ok and I’m fine,” said Rodriguez.

It’s unclear if the neighbor confused the gas and brake pedals, but Rodriguez is thankful he is OK.

“I’m good with our neighbors. We’ve known them for years, we’ve been here for over 20 years. They are good people and of course I hope they are OK and it’ll be taken care of. I’m glad no one was hurt,” said Rodriguez.

The family is now cleaning and boarding up the home as they wait for an insurance adjuster to assess the damage.

Insurance adjusters are currently on the west coast dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. The Rodriguez family said they are unable to live in the home because it has been deemed unsafe. The neighbor was not home for comment.
