MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A man was arrested Wednesday after police said he brutally attacked a woman outside of a grocery store in northwest Miami-Dade last October.

Miami-Dade police said officers responded to calls of a potential assault just after 3:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at Northside Supermarket, located at 7990 NW 32nd Ave.

Upon arrival, officers confirmed they found a female victim who was lying on the ground bleeding profusely from her head and mouth.

Police said swift action was taken as the victim was immediately transported to Hialeah Hospital for “urgent medical attention.”

Witnesses at the scene recounted the attack, describing how the assailant, who police identified as 20-year-old Jamar Patrick Felder, of northwest Miami-Dade, allegedly struck the female victim in the face, causing her to collapse backward and collide with a concrete block outside the supermarket.

The brutality of the attack was further corroborated by surveillance footage obtained at the scene, according to an arrest report.

The victim suffered severe injuries to her mouth, necessitating stitches and endured a laceration to her right cheek, the report stated.

Detectives said the Felder was later identified by the victim through a photo lineup.

On Wednesday, police said they located Felder and transported him to Jackson Memorial Hospital before he was eventually transferred to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

“The resolution of this case serves as a testament to the unwavering dedication of law enforcement in safeguarding the community and ensuring that justice is served for victims of violent crimes,” an officer wrote in the arrest report.

Jail records show Felder is facing one felony charge of battery.

As of Thursday, he remains at TGK, where his bond was set at $5,000.

Felder’s arrest report did not specify the nature of the relationship between himself and the victim.

A motive for the attack remains unclear at this time.
