Police investigating fatal shooting in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Fort Lauderdale police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday night.

A Local 10 News crew was in the 1300 block of Chateau Park Drive Friday morning as two yellow tarps were on the ground outside a home.

A white GMC pickup truck and a black Cadillac could be seen parked in the driveway with bullet holes.

Despite the two tarps, Fort Lauderdale police spokeswoman Ali Adamson confirmed there was only one victim.

The family that lives at the home said they don’t know why someone shot a man on their property, leaving his body on the lawn.

Neighbors told Local 10′s Saira Anwer that they heard rapid fire gunshots and are worried the shooter may return.

“I was in the house and I wasn’t coming out,” one woman said. “The body was laying right there on the grass.”

According to Adamson, officers responded to the scene after receiving a ShotSpotter alert.

Fort Lauderdale residents also said they had no idea how or why the victim ended up in their neighborhood.

She said officers found a male victim who was pronounced dead at the scene. His age and identity have not yet been released.

No other details were immediately known.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Fort Lauderdale Police Department or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
