Monroe deputy arrested, accused of breaking into ex’s Key West home

KEY WEST, Fla. – A Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputy is facing a felony charge after authorities said he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home in Key West Monday morning.

Key West Police Department officers arrested Deputy Alexander Morales Jr., 26, on felony burglary and misdemeanor criminal mischief charges.

According to MCSO, Morales broke in “via a bedroom window to confront her regarding a domestic issue” just before 4:15 a.m.

Additional details weren’t immediately released. Local 10 News has requested Morales’ arrest report from KWPD.

“I have placed Morales on administrative leave without pay pending a pre-determination hearing regarding his employment with the Sheriff’s Office,” Sheriff Rick Ramsay said in a news release Monday evening. “I am committed to keeping this community informed of significant events that occur in this agency.”

Morales was hired on Jan. 3, 2022.

His bond information was not listed on MCSO’s jail roster as of Monday evening.
