MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — A Miami Beach police officer remained at Jackson Memorial Hospital on Thursday after suffering injuries during a crash, according to police.
The police officer, who is a woman, was riding an ATV when she collided with a colleague, also riding an ATV, on Wednesday evening in South Beach, according to police.
A Nest surveillance video showed the crash and the response at Meridian Avenue and Ninth Street. Angel Urcola was among the witnesses who heard the loud collision and people screaming.
“I looked through the window, and I saw a motorcycle flipped,” Urcola said about the ATV that the police officer had been riding.
Miami Beach Fire Rescue personnel responded to the crash and rushed the police officer injured to JMH’s Ryder Trauma Center, according to police. The crash remained under investigation on Thursday afternoon.
The police officer remained and good spirits and doctors expected her to recover, according to police.
