MIAMI — A 22-year-old man was arrested Wednesday, two days after he allegedly grabbed a 16-year-old girl and hit her buttocks as she was walking to school in Miami, authorities said.
According to an arrest report from the City of Miami Police Department, the incident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. Monday in the 2300 block of West Flagler Street.
Police said the victim claimed that as she was walking through the parking lot of a Burger King, on her way to school, the suspect, later identified by police as Keldon Figueroa, hit her on her buttocks, grabbed her by the wrist and asked her a few times, “Do you want to f***?”
The victim told police that the man was holding a key between his fingers and she feared that he would use it as a weapon.
According to the report, the victim said she “had to act clueless,” and the man eventually let her go and fled in the opposite direction.
Figueroa and the victim do not know each other, authorities confirmed.
Police said surveillance footage from the Burger King captured part of the incident.
According to the report, Figueroa was located the next day at work and was arrested.
Police said he was on probation in connection with a separate case and his GPS monitor placed him at the scene of Monday’s crime.
He now faces charges of attempted kidnapping and battery.
As of Thursday morning, Figueroa was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He was expected to appear in bond court sometime Thursday.
