MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Thousands gathered at Bayfront Park on Saturday to celebrate America’s 250th birthday during the Freedom 250 celebration.
“There’s a lot of children out here today and I think that’s so fun,” attendee Hannah Murders said.
The park was filled with a sea of red, white and blue as families came together for the Fourth of July festivities.
“Where I’m from, we don’t have many events like this,” Murders said.
“It’s the 250th so of course we had to come out and show off,” one mom said.
The event was designed to celebrate America’s 250th birthday. Instead of cake and candles, the celebration featured pride and unity, including a parade with people from different nations.
“It’s amazing because we’re able to bond and just have a good time,” Franklin Espinosa said.
“I’m going to enjoy this night for all that it is worth,” Harold Sevilla said.
Sevilla was one of the thousands who gathered to celebrate the Fourth of July together.
“I’m grateful that I live in a country where I can have the chance to have the freedom of expression, the freedom of choice, the freedom of the pursuit of happiness. And I’m grateful for that,” Sevilla said.
The Freedom 250 celebration also included concerts and a drone show, with fireworks planned later in the night for families to enjoy.
“I love the feeling that you get after the fireworks show or even during it. Or even the excitement or rush that your body gets just of being proud of where you’re from,” Andrew Galloway said.
“When this is all over, I just want to remember the great time that I have,” Sevilla said.
