SURFSIDE, Fla. — A 35-year-old man who was arrested earlier this year after police accused him of slashing a giant inflatable FIFA ball that was on display in Miami Beach during the 2026 FIFA World Cup is now accused of threatening to kill a person during an unrelated antisemitic attack in Surfside, according to an arrest report.
Jail records show Jorden Stephen Perozo, of Miami Beach, was arrested Wednesday by the Surfside Police Department and is facing one count each of battery with prejudice and harassing or intimidating a person based on religious or ethnic heritage.
The latest incident happened around 9:15 p.m. Sunday near the 9500 block of Harding Avenue in Surfside, the report states.
According to the report, a man and his wife, who were visiting from New York, were walking along Harding Avenue when Perozo approached them on an electric scooter.
The victim told police Perozo cursed at him, his wife and others in the Jewish community as they crossed the street.
The report states that Perozo became agitated and punched the victim on the side of the head.
“Now you’re going to die,” Perozo told the victim, according to the report. “Walk away before I kill you.”
Perozo continued cursing and made statements targeting Israel and Palestine, while telling the victims, “I hate you motherf-----s. You evil demons,” according to the report.
The victim’s wife recorded the altercation on her cellphone, the report states.
Police said they arrested Perozo Wednesday at his job and took him into custody without incident.
The woman who authorities say was verbally assaulted told Local 10 News that Surfside police acted quickly to arrest the suspect.
Sunday’s incident was not Perazo’s first run-in with the law.
Police said Perozo was previously arrested June 15 on a criminal mischief charge after they accused him of slashing a giant inflatable FIFA ball that was on display in Miami Beach as the city hosted World Cup matches.
According to an arrest report from that case, a witness told police he saw a man slash the inflatable ball near 71st Street and Rue Vendome before quickly leaving on an electric scooter.
In that case, police used city surveillance cameras to locate Perozo, who was sitting inside a parked Nissan sedan near 81st Street and Hawthorne Avenue, according to the report.
Following his arrest on Wednesday, Perozo was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $6,000 bond as of Thursday.
