OPA-LOCKA, Fla. — An arrest has been made after an armed robbery at a Family Dollar in Opa-locka prompted a multi-agency search Friday, police confirmed.
Opa-locka police said officers responded to the store, located at 14400 Northwest 27th Ave., after the robbery was reported.
Police said when they arrived at the scene, they saw the suspect fleeing the area on foot.
They said officers established a perimeter and called for additional law enforcement resources.
Sky 10 flew over the scene just before 10:30 a.m. as officers gathered next to a police car in the area.
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office K-9 and aviation units, along with officers from the Miami Gardens Police Department and Miami-Dade Schools Police Department, joined the search, according to investigators.
The suspect was eventually located and taken into custody without further incident, police said.
They said there is no ongoing threat to the community related to the armed robbery.
Police said the investigation remains active. They did not immediately release additional details about the suspect or what, if anything, was taken from the store.
