MIRAMAR, Fla. – A small plane made an emergency landing Thursday on a field in Miramar.
Sky 10 was above the plane, which skidded to a stop in the grass near Flamingo Road between Miramar Parkway and Miramar Boulevard.
The pilot was not injured, but he didn't want to speak with Local 10 News about what happened.
Federal Aviation Administration records show that the 1973 Piper Arrow is registered to O'Brien Aviation in Port Orange.
It appeared that a few passengers were on board the plane, although authorities did not immediately say where they were headed or from where the plane departed.
Miramar Fire-Rescue Department spokesman Jose Gregorish applauded the pilot for getting the plane safely on the ground after it experienced some kind of issue.
"This is one of the few open fields left in Miramar still, so, you know, whether he was very familiar with the area or if he just happened to be able to spot it, it was all and all a great job by him," Gregorish said.
The FAA will investigate what caused the emergency landing.
