Wind turbines to begin operating and spinning at Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – City of Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jack Seiler announced that the six wind turbines, which were installed at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort, will begin operating on the roof of the 25-story resort Wednesday.

A celebration of the move forward to save energy will take place at the site of Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort and Residences at 551 N. Fort Lauderdale at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The 374-suite resort was the first hotel in the area to be awarded a State of Florida green lodging destination.

In addition to the turbines, the hotel has also installed an environ pure composter to begin composting 900 pounds of food waste daily and have begun plans on a rooftop lounge with the installation of a Tesla charging station.
