LAUDERHILL, Fla. – Lauderhill firefighters rescued a pit bull from a canal Sunday morning.
Capt. Jerry Gonzalez announced the dog rescue on Lauderhill Fire Rescue's official Twitter page Sunday.

Gonzalez said that the dog was cold and thankful after emerging from the water.
It isn't known how the dog wound up in the canal or what will become of the pooch.
