A man popped the hood of the car and was working to safely remove the stuck kitten.
It's unclear how the cat got stuck behind the grille in the first place, but police said it was discovered about 7 a.m. as a lieutenant was driving to work.
The Dodge Avenger was driven to the Police Department's Fleet Management's Internal Services Department, where auto technicians worked for an hour to safely remove the kitten.
The kitten named Pikachu hung out at the Miami-Dade Police Department headquarters for several hours, where she was given food and water.
The kitten was taken to Miami-Dade Animal Services later in the afternoon, where she is up for adoption.
