Crews rescue kitten stuck in Dania Beach highway storm drain

DANIA BEACH, Fla. – Emergency crews rescued a kitten stuck in a storm drain on a busy South Florida roadway on Tuesday.

The kitten was stuck in a 16-inch drain on the ramp from State Road 84 to southbound I-95.

A BSO deputy driving by the location first saw what he thought was an injured kitten on the road around 3 p.m.

The first crews to respond attempted to flush the frisky feline out of the drain with water, but that proved to be unsuccessful.

A Fire Rescue team from the Broward Sheriff's Office trained for difficult rescues was brought in and sent more water down the drain, which pushed the kitten out the other end of the drain

Around 5:30 p.m., one of the first responders was able to free the kitten and put it into a cage where it can no longer get lost.

No word on where the cat will be taken.
