1 taken to hospital, cat saved after house fire in Fort Lauderdale

Cause of fire under investigation

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – One person was taken to a hospital and a cat was saved after a fire broke out Thursday night at a home in Fort Lauderdale, authorities said.

The incident was reported at 848 NE 62nd Court.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue officials said firefighters arrived at the scene to find a moderate amount of smoke coming from the house.

Authorities said one person was found in bed in a rear room. 

Crews pulled the victim out of the home and transported them to Holy Cross Hospital. 

A cat was also saved during the search and was given oxygen by firefighters.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
