Woman accused of throwing dog off Blue Heron Bridge in Riviera Beach

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. – A Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office deputy came to the aid of a dog who was thrown off a bridge in Riviera Beach, authorities said.

Witnesses told authorities that they saw a woman throw the dog from the Blue Heron Bridge and saying that "dogs could fly."

PBSO tweeted a photo Thursday of a deputy covering the dog with a blanket on the sand and comforting the animal.

The extent of the dog's injuries wasn't immediately released. It's unclear whether the woman was detained.
